Jia Juan Li was brought up in a family where culture – both literary and
artistic – was highly valued. Her paintings reflect the interior world of the
imperial city where some of her family members resided; exoticism transcended by
personal experience. She successfully combines traditional Chinese culture with
western technical influences. She has lived in France since 1996 and currently
lives in Paris.
